Internship: Microfluidics Simulations (CFD)
🕒 Timing: As soon as possible, 6-9 months internship
💼 Full-time
About the internship
We are looking for an intern to support the development of microfluidic systems at Nostics. In this project you will use computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to simulate and evaluate our microfluidic designs, and to connect simulation results to experimental work.
Nostics develops a microfluidic cartridge for rapid point-of-care diagnosis of infectious diseases. The work in this internship contributes directly to ongoing product development.
If you’re pragmatic, inventive, and thrive in a fast-moving start-up environment, you’ll have the opportunity to make a direct impact on technology with global health relevance.
- Set up and develop a practical framework for CFD simulations of our microfluidic chips.
- Run and compare simulations for new and existing microfluidic design concepts.
- Help interpret experimental data using simulation insights (e.g., flow fields, particle paths, pressure drops).
- Document your methods and results so others in the team can use them.
- You are an MSc student in (applied) physics, mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, or a related field.
- You have a basic theoretical background in fluid dynamics.
- You are comfortable programming in Python.
- You are interested in in-vitro diagnostics and applied research.
- Play a key role in building technology that will directly improve global healthcare.
- Be part of an early-stage team where your ideas and expertise have immediate impact.
- Work at the intersection of optics, biotech, and data science.
- Enjoy the agility and ownership that comes with a fast-growing start-up.

Internship: Business Development / Market Research
Nostics is building a new platform that brings together our AI and software expertise for spectral data processing into a single, end-to-end workflow, from data ingestion and curation to search, annotation, analysis, and model-ready datasets.
We’re looking for a Business Development / Market Research Intern to help us validate the market, sharpen our positioning, and build an initial outreach pipeline as we prepare for early pilots.
- Map the market: identify key segments, workflows, and buying centers across spectroscopy-heavy labs and teams (e.g. Raman Spectrometry and Mass Spectrometry).
- Build a competitive landscape: analyze existing tools such as spectral libraries, vendor software suites, chemometrics tools, and adjacent platforms.
- Develop Ideal Customer Profile (ICP) hypotheses: define early-adopter profiles and the problems they most urgently need solved.
- Create an outreach pipeline: compile and prioritize companies and roles for customer discovery and potential partnerships.
- Support customer discovery: conduct interviews, capture insights, and synthesize findings into clear recommendations.
- Explore commercial viability: contribute to a high-level business plan covering target customers, value proposition, market sizing (TAM/SAM/SOM) and pricing hypotheses, go-to-market options, and what would make this worth pursuing as a standalone business.
- Enrolled in an MBA or MSc (Business/Strategy/Innovation), or a comparable Business Administration program.
- Interest in business development, go-to-market, and entrepreneurship. You enjoy turning ambiguity into a plan and testing it in the real world.
- Strong synthesis skills: you can turn messy information into clear decisions.
- Comfortable working with spreadsheets and writing concise, structured memos.
- Curious, proactive, and independent: you ask sharp questions and follow them through.
- Bonus: interest in life sciences or applied AI.
- How to take a deep-tech product from technical capability to a credible commercial narrative.
- Practical approaches to market sizing (TAM/SAM/SOM) and forming pricing hypotheses with limited data.
- How early-stage teams run customer discovery and turn qualitative insights into strategic decisions.
- How to think about go-to-market strategy for B2B scientific and lab software.
- What it looks like to assess whether a product idea is venture-scale, niche, or not worth pursuing.
