Market Access & Business Development Lead

📍 Location: Amsterdam
🕒 Timing: As soon as possible
💼  40 hours/week

About Nostics

At Nostics, we’re building smarter, faster diagnostics for a healthier future. We are developing the world’s first clinical diagnostic platform powered by Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (SERS): enabling rapid, label-free identification of bacteria directly from patient samples in under 10 minutes. Our first product, DUTI (Direct UTI Identification), targets urinary tract infections: one of the most common primary care presentations and a major driver of inappropriate antibiotic prescribing.

As a growing startup based in Amsterdam, we combine cutting-edge science with user-friendly technology to ensure that reliable diagnostics are available when and where they are needed most. We are entering an exciting phase and are looking for the right people to help bring our platform to market.

The Role

We are looking for a hands-on Market Access & Business Development Lead to lay the commercial groundwork for the launch of DUTI. This is a pioneering role — you will be the first dedicated commercial hire at Nostics, and your work will directly shape where, how, and how fast we bring our product to patients and healthcare providers.

This is not a traditional sales role. It is a strategic, builder’s role for someone who can turn complex clinical, scientific, reimbursement, and market insights into a clear commercial direction. You will map the commercial landscape, prioritize markets, define our go-to-market approach, develop key relationships, and ensure that the evidence needed for reimbursement and market adoption is in place before we launch.

You will also play an important role in communicating Nostics’ commercial opportunity externally. This includes presenting our market strategy, value proposition, and launch progress clearly and credibly to strategic partners, shareholders, investors, and other senior stakeholders.

You will work closely with the CEO, Founders, Clinical Lead, and Project Leader, given the strategic importance of this position.

The right person for this role has done something like this before — at a MedTech or IVD startup, or in a similar context where they had to create commercial traction from scratch. You are equally comfortable developing a market access strategy, presenting to senior audiences and getting on a plane to meet a potential partner.

Responsibilities

As Market Access & Business Development Lead, you will:

  • Map and prioritize launch markets based on AMR landscape, reimbursement pathways, pricing potential, healthcare system dynamics, and early adopter characteristics — with an initial focus on Northern Europe, DACH, France, UK, the Middle East, and the US
  • Define and drive the go-to-market strategy per country, including channel selection (strategic accounts, distribution partnerships, or other) and sequencing
  • Identify and develop relationships with key strategic accounts and distribution or commercialization partners in priority geographies
  • Develop a market access strategy per region, working with external reimbursement consultants on the technical execution of reimbursement filings and pathway navigation
  • Drive implementation and health economic studies together with the Clinical Lead and Project Leader to generate compelling evidence for payers, insurers, and healthcare decision-makers
  • Translate clinical and scientific evidence into value propositions tailored to specific customer segments, reimbursement bodies, and market contexts
  • Monitor competitive dynamics and market developments to continuously refine the commercial strategy
  • Work closely with the CEO, Clinical Lead, and Project Leader to align commercial strategy with product development timelines and regulatory milestones
  • Represent Nostics externally at congresses, industry events, and in partner meetings

Requirements

What we’d love you to bring:

  • Entrepreneurial mindset — you are hands-on, resourceful, and comfortable operating in an environment where much is still to be built
  • Excellent relationship-building skills and the ability to engage credibly with clinical, commercial, and strategic stakeholders
  • An MSc or MBA in life sciences, biomedical sciences, health economics, business administration, or a related field
  • 7–10 years of experience in commercial, market access, or business development roles within IVD or MedTech, with a strong preference for experience at or with early-stage companies
  • A proven track record of building commercial strategy from the ground up — mapping markets, prioritizing geographies, and establishing the foundations for a successful launch
  • Strong understanding of payer dynamics, reimbursement pathways, and value-based health technology assessment, combined with familiarity with how target heathcare settings operate commercially across European and/or US markets
  • Experience with or strong understanding of health economic evidence generation and how to translate clinical data into market access arguments
  • Fluency in English; Dutch is a plus

What we offer

  • A high-impact, pioneering commercial role in an ambitious health-tech startup at a defining moment in its development
  • The opportunity to shape the commercial strategy and market positioning of a genuinely innovative diagnostic platform
  • A collaborative, science-driven team that values integrity, ambition, and making a real difference in how infectious diseases are diagnosed and treated
  • A high degree of autonomy and ownership, working directly with the senior team
  • Competitive salary and benefits, aligned with experience
  • Based in Amsterdam, with travel to priority markets

Why join?

Antibiotic resistance is one of the defining health challenges of our time. At Nostics, we are building the diagnostic tools that will help clinicians make faster, better treatment decisions — reducing unnecessary antibiotic use and improving patient outcomes. If you want a role where your commercial work has a direct and meaningful impact on public health, this is it.

Join a fast-moving, purpose-driven team that values innovation, scientific rigour, and doing things right.

Interested?

If you have built commercial foundations in the IVD or MedTech space and are excited by the challenge of bringing a first-of-its-kind diagnostic platform to market, we would love to hear from you.

Internship: Business Development / Market Research

📍 Location: Amsterdam
🕒 Timing: within two months, 3–6 months (flexible)
💼 16–40 hours/week

About the internship

Nostics is building a new platform that brings together our AI and software expertise for spectral data processing into a single, end-to-end workflow, from data ingestion and curation to search, annotation, analysis, and model-ready datasets.
We’re looking for a Business Development / Market Research Intern to help us validate the market, sharpen our positioning, and build an initial outreach pipeline as we prepare for early pilots.

What You’ll Do
You’ll work closely with the founding team on early commercial discovery:
  • Map the market: identify key segments, workflows, and buying centers across spectroscopy-heavy labs and teams (e.g. Raman Spectrometry and Mass Spectrometry).
  • Build a competitive landscape: analyze existing tools such as spectral libraries, vendor software suites, chemometrics tools, and adjacent platforms.
  • Develop Ideal Customer Profile (ICP) hypotheses: define early-adopter profiles and the problems they most urgently need solved.
  • Create an outreach pipeline: compile and prioritize companies and roles for customer discovery and potential partnerships.
  • Support customer discovery: conduct interviews, capture insights, and synthesize findings into clear recommendations.
  • Explore commercial viability: contribute to a high-level business plan covering target customers, value proposition, market sizing (TAM/SAM/SOM) and pricing hypotheses, go-to-market options, and what would make this worth pursuing as a standalone business.
Who you are
  • Enrolled in an MBA or MSc (Business/Strategy/Innovation), or a comparable Business Administration program.
  • Interest in business development, go-to-market, and entrepreneurship. You enjoy turning ambiguity into a plan and testing it in the real world.
  • Strong synthesis skills: you can turn messy information into clear decisions.
  • Comfortable working with spreadsheets and writing concise, structured memos.
  • Curious, proactive, and independent: you ask sharp questions and follow them through.
  • Bonus: interest in life sciences or applied AI.
What you’ll learn
  • How to take a deep-tech product from technical capability to a credible commercial narrative.
  • Practical approaches to market sizing (TAM/SAM/SOM) and forming pricing hypotheses with limited data.
  • How early-stage teams run customer discovery and turn qualitative insights into strategic decisions.
  • How to think about go-to-market strategy for B2B scientific and lab software.
  • What it looks like to assess whether a product idea is venture-scale, niche, or not worth pursuing.
