System Developer - Optics

 The Role

We’re seeking a System Developer to bring exceptional experimental skills and deep theoretical knowledge to our spectrometer development team. In this role, you’ll design, test, and refine the optical systems at the heart of our diagnostic platform. You’ll collaborate across disciplines — from biotech to software — to ensure our optical designs integrate seamlessly into a robust, field-ready product.

If you’re pragmatic, inventive, and thrive in a fast-moving start-up environment, you’ll have the opportunity to make a direct impact on technology with global health relevance.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the development of the optical read-out unit in collaboration with internal teams and external partners.
  • Design, execute, and analyze experiments that drive performance improvements in our spectrometer technology.
  • Test and evaluate prototypes, ensuring readiness for integration into a diagnostic platform.
  • Perform in-depth data analysis (Python) and document findings with precision.
  • Integrate optical designs with microfluidic and vibrational spectroscopy applications.
  • Act as the go-to optics expert, advising cross-disciplinary teams on optical considerations.

What You Bring

  • Master’s or PhD in Physics, Optical Engineering, or related field.
  • Deep understanding of optical systems, from theory to hands-on implementation.
  • Proven experience running and analyzing optical experiments.
  • Proficiency in Python for data analysis and experimental control.
  • A start-up mindset — comfortable with rapid iteration and resourceful problem-solving.
  • Strong communication skills for cross-disciplinary collaboration.
  • Bonus: Experience with microfluidics, spectroscopy, or biotech instrumentation.

Why Join Us

  • Play a key role in building technology that will directly improve global healthcare.
  • Be part of an early-stage team where your ideas and expertise have immediate impact.
  • Work at the intersection of optics, biotech, and data science.
  • Enjoy the agility and ownership that comes with a fast-growing start-up.
