Her influential and pioneering work on antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and diagnostics will support and guide Nostics on their mission: bringing rapid and reliable diagnostics for infections to every corner of the world.
Dr. Patel is the former President of the American Society for Microbiology (ASM) and the current Director of the Mayo Clinic’s Infectious Diseases Research Laboratory, former chair of the Division of Clinical Microbiology and the Co-Director of its Bacteriology Laboratory.
One of her major focus areas is the improvement of next-generation diagnostic techniques for infectious diseases.

With Dr. Patel’s expertise, Nostics takes a major step toward transforming infectious disease diagnostics, with their first clinical indication: urinary tract infections (UTIs).
Mistreatment of UTIs represents a global unmet medical need, with outdated diagnostics and widespread antibiotic misuse driving resistance. With the Nostics point-of-care platform, doctors will be able to rapidly confirm the presence of an infection and identify the causative pathogen, enabling faster and more targeted treatment.
